=========================================================================== Title : id Games - Back In Time! Filename : ID-GAMES.WAD Archive Filename : id-Games.zip Version : 1.0 Original Build Date : August 21, 1998 Release Date : December 10, 2010 Original Author : id Software Modification Author : Rich „Weeds„ Nagel Email Address : richnagel@earthlink.net Other Files By Author : Several, but none worth mentioning! Misc. Author Info : Member of Team Eternal and TeamTNT, composed the entire soundtrack for Eternal DOOM 1, 2, and 3 Description : HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DOOM! Yes, today marks the day, 17 years ago, when the shareware version of DOOM was first uploaded by id Software to the University of Wisconsin's FTP server! This map is a little something that I threw together back in 1998, and even still today cannot be uploaded to the idGames Internet archives (due to it being simply a "copy and paste" job of some of the original id Software DOOM and DOOM 2 maps). The map is a "copy and paste" of the first map of DOOM 2 (MAP01: "Entryway"), the first map of Ultimate DOOM (D_E1M1: "Hangar"), and the first secret map of DOOM 2 (MAP31: "Wolfenstein")... which of course, is identical to the first map of Wolfenstein 3D. Note that the DOOM 2 version of the "Wolfenstein" map has been edited: The secret area, and the exit to the second secret map (MAP32) has been removed (Wolfenstein 3D didn't have those anyway). Other than the parts removed (mentioned above), the maps have been logically and carefully spliced together in verbatim... play the map for a short time, and you will easily figure out where (and where not) to go to get to the next section. Additional Credits To : id Software, of course! =========================================================================== * What's Included * New Levels : 1 Sounds : None Music : DOOM 2's "D_EVIL" (which is the ending song played during DOOM 2's "BOSSBACK" endgame screen) has been replaced with Wolfenstein 3D's "WONDERIN" "Wondering About My Loved Ones". DOOM 2's "D_DM2INT (which is played during the in-between map status screens) has been replaced with DOOM's "D_VICTOR" "Victory". DOOM 2's "D_OPENIN" (which is the in-game music for Map 30) has been replaced with a medley of: DOOM 2's "D_RUNNIN" "Running From Evil", DOOM's "D_E1M1" "At Doom's Gate", and Wolfenstein 3D's "GETTHEM" - "Get Them Before They Get You". Also, Reverb and Chorus (MIDI controllers 91 and 93) have been added to the music... something that Bobby Prince ommited in the original DOOM and DOOM 2 music! Graphics : DOOM 2's "RSKY3" sky texture has been replaced with DOOM's Episode 1: "Knee Deep in the Dead" "SKY1". Cool trivia tidbit: The original picture that id Software used for the "SKY1" texture of the original DOOM is a photograph of "Yangshuo Cavern" in China (photographed by Tom Atwood back in 1992)! DOOM 2's "BOSSBACK" endgame screen has been replaced with a photograph of all of the id Software guys! Dehacked/BEX Patch : None Demos : DEMO1, your's truly completing the map!
