Java Tetris · Important Note

The entries listed below have been erased. These people are all excellent players but their scores are not comparable to the regular ones. And, as my latin teacher tended to say: Mea culpa, mea maxima culpa! (It is my fault, it is my [very] fault!)

When I first saw the entry of Lotte, I could not believe that a human being would be capable to reach 100000+ points and this in only 18 minutes. For a short while I thought I had to deal with a cheater. But then I realized that it might be possible to reach such a score by playing and solving the deterministic nightmare mode and that 1000% score might have been too much given the fact that you could toggle it off anytime and clean up the mess. I could have left everything as it has been but I do not believe that this would be fair for the majority of regular gamers. I also could have split the highscore list into several modes, but this would have been too much trouble. Finally, I decided to change the game modalities and "correct" the list. In addition, I felt I had to do something against the most straight-forward score hacking approach anyway, so I coded version 2.11 with a new score checksum procedure and added a short passage about cheating in the details page.

I apologize to all who are concerned. If I removed a score of someone who played in normal mode, he or she can prove his/her genius by doing it again. This is probably faster than convincing me by email...

I hope this will not happen again. Next time, I will use my brain before coding ;)
