Configuring Airline Simulator 2 Commander v0.93 ----------------------------------------------- 1. Create a new subdirectory "ERNIE" within your Airline Simulator 2 directory (i.e. "C:\AS2\ERNIE" or "C:\AIRSIM2\ERNIE"). 2. Copy all of the files from the "ERNIE" directory on the Airline Simulator 2 CD to the new "ERNIE" subdirectory on your hard drive. 3. Copy the "LATLON.BIN" file from the "SCONLINE" directory on the Airline Simulator 2 CD to the new "ERNIE" subdirectory on your hard drive (overwriting the existing "LATLON.BIN" file that you originally copied from the "ERNIE" directory on the Airline Simulator 2 CD). 4. Remove the "read-only" attribute for all of the files (i.e. "ATTRIB C:\AS2\ERNIE\*.* -R" or "ATTRIB C:\AIRSIM2\ERNIE\*.* -R"). 5. Delete the file "ASC.BIN" located in the "ERNIE" subdirectory on your hard drive. 6. Copy the file "AS2.SMS" located in your "SMS" subdirectory within your Airline Simulator 2 directory (i.e. "C:\AS2\SMS" or "C:\AIRSIM2\SMS") to the new filename "F1.SMS". 7. Run "SETUP.EXE" from within the "ERNIE" subdirectory on your hard drive. 8. Configure the following subdirectories within Airline Simulator 2 Commander's SETUP utility: AS2 Directory: (i.e. "C:\AS2" or "C:\AIRSIM2") Scenery Directory: (i.e. "C:\AS2\SCENERY" or "C:\AIRSIM2\SCENERY") SMS Directory: (i.e. "C:\AS2\SMS" or "C:\AIRSIM2\SMS") 9. Configure and test the video resolution. 10. Configure the IPX Network option (with a second PC, Airline Simulator 2 Commander will function as a moving map via an IPX network connection). 11. Leave the Color options at their defaults. 12. Run "ASC.EXE" to start Airline Simulator 2 Commander, and allow the program to import the scenery databases. 13. Lastly, press "F" within Airline Simulator 2 Commander and de-select any add-on scenery files you may have installed that did not ship with Airline Simulator 2. The default scenery files that shipped with Airline Simulator 2 are "ATPUSA.SCN", "EAST.SCN", "EURGE.SCN" (included with the v2.09 scenery patch), "EURIT.SCN", "EURNE.SCN", "EURNW.SCN", "EUROPE.SCN", EURSE.SCN", "EURSW.SCN", "F1" ("F1.SCN"), "NATL.SCN", and "WEST.SCN". If Airline Simulator 2 Commander crashes or has any problems importing the scenery databases, simply delete the file "ASC.BIN" located in the "ERNIE" subdirectory on your hard drive, and then run Airline Simulator 2 Commander again. Note that Airline Simulator 2 Commander only functions properly when the "F1" default scenery file is set for "EUROPE.SCN". Run "CAREER.COM" (the Airline Simulator 2 "Career Switcher Utility") or "ASEURO.BAT" to reset Airline Simulator 2's default scenery back to the original default European scenery. You can use any DOS screen capture utility (such as "Prograb") to capture and save a screenshot image for use as an aeronautical chart for any area that you may be flying in. "Prograb" (pgrab110.zip, 5.5kb) can be downloaded from http://www.simtel.net/pub/pd/28932.html on the Internet. Hope this proves useful to someone!
