GeneRally Drivers, Options, and Saved Seasons Backup Utility v7.2 ================================================================= (C)Copyright 2002-2004, Rich „Weeds„ Nagel - All rights reserved Overview -------- The GeneRally Drivers, Options, and Saved Seasons Backup Utility will create the file GRBACKUP.ZIP and will back up and list your GeneRally drivers, options, saved seasons, and tracks files. The utility can also run GeneRally and the GeneRally Track Editor directly from the main menu, sort your car files (GeneRally version 1.05 or higher only), sort your GeneRally "Sounds" folders, edit GeneRally's "GR.ini" advanced game options file, run the Windows Explorer, run my GeneRally "OptionToy" and Javascript "Metric Calculator" (if these utilities are installed), run Juan's "GeneRally Options" Utility (if this utility is installed in your GeneRally game directory), as well as view and delete GeneRally Shot*.bmp screenshots. The utility requires PKZIP and PKUNZIP v2.50 for DOS (included with the utility) located in your GeneRally game directory, or somewhere in your path. Installation ------------ To install, simply unzip GRBACK72.ZIP to your GeneRally game directory and run GRBACKUP.BAT. To upgrade an existing installation of this utility from a previous version, simply overwrite the existing files. Useage ------ The menus are self-explanatory. Note that the included GeneRally backup archive files list (GRBACKUP.LST) can be edited using Windows Notepad or MS-DOS Editor to add your choice of additional files to the GeneRally backup archive, or remove existing ones. The GRBACKUP.LST file is used when selecting the "[A]ll Drivers, Options, Saved Seasons, and Tracks" backup option. The "[V]iew Shot0000.bmp Screenshot" option will load the first GeneRally screenshot (located in your "GeneRally\Screens" directory) into the default image editing or viewing utility that is associated with BMP format image files on your computer. The "Sort [C]ar Files" option will sort all of your GeneRally car files located in your "GeneRally\Cars" directory. Note that the "Cars" directory is the new location for all of your car files for GeneRally version 1.05 or higher, and the car sorting option will not work properly for any lower version of GeneRally. By default, all of the car files are sorted alphabetically by filename (excluding GeneRally's stock "Cars.car" file). When selecting this feature, you will be given the option to change the order in which the car files are sorted by simply editing the temporary list file that will be displayed at that time. Note that GeneRally's stock "Cars.car" file will always be sorted as the first car file (reguardless of where it is located in the temporary list file). IMPORTANT NOTE WHEN EDITING THE TEMPORARY LIST FILE: DO NOT delete any entries or change the actual filenames of the car files in the temporary list file, as the cars will be permanently deleted from your hard drive! You may edit the sort order, but ensure that you DO NOT delete or modify any of the filenames in any way! If you accidently delete or modify any of the entries or filenames, simply exit MS-DOS Editor WITHOUT saving the temporary list file, and select the "Sort [C]ar Files" option again from the main menu. Default Files ------------- The following default files will be backed up when running the utility and selecting the "[A]ll Drivers, Options, Saved Seasons, and Tracks" backup option: In the "GeneRally" game directory: GR.ini - Advanced Game Options Options.opt - Juan's "GeneRally Options" Utility Option Sets Options.set - General Game Options In the "Drivers" directory: *.drv - Drivers In the "Saves" directory: *.gam - Saved Seasons In the "Tracks" directories: *.trk - Tracks Legalities ---------- The GeneRally Drivers, Options, and Saved Seasons Backup Utility (GRBACK72) may be freely distributed in it's unmodified and unedited form, and in it's original unmodified and unedited ZIP format archive for any non-commercial use. Use the GeneRally Drivers, Options, and Saved Seasons Backup Utility at your own risk.
