Cities and Scenarios for SimCity 2000 and SimCopter

Forest Mountain (24,257 bytes)

Forest Mountain is an undeveloped city terrain for SimCity 2000. The terrain has nice forested rolling hills, several lakes, and a small flat area ready for development. The goal of this terrain was to develop it within SimCity 2000 or SCURK, and create a "fire/rescue" city for use with SimCopter (but I never got around to the development stages <G>).

New Weedville (692,727 bytes)

New Weedville (NWEEDVIL.SC2) is a city that I originally created in SimCity 2000 with no cheats (except for some very MINOR editing of the awarded military base in SCURK), and now also play in SimCopter (SimCopter was the reason for the SCURKing). The city is very successful with a stable economy, low crime rate, low pollution, and happy citizens. Also included in the archive is a new "Scenario" for use with SimCity 2000.

TinyVille (33,171 bytes)

TinyVille is the SimWorld's smallest successful "no cheat" city that you'll ever see for SimCity 2000 <G>. The city is based upon four 2x2 zoned tiles (excluding power, water, and flora). The city's population varies between 150-160, the budget balances out at $0 each year, and there's even an occasional parade in honor of the mayor! Use caution, as the smallest disaster could wipe out this little town <G>.

Utility Cities (19,747 bytes)

These cities that show various construction techniques and all of the buildings contained SimCity 2000. Note: None of these cities are really playable, but are real handy as a construction reference or to see all of the buildings in the game.

"Raised Tiles" (RAISTILE.SC2) is a city that shows how to create the "raised tile" effect in SimCity 2000. This effect can be used to visually simulate coal or other types of mines within the game. After loading the city into SimCity 2000, read the signs for complete instructions.

"SCURK Object Preview" (SCURKOBJ.SC2) is a city that has all of the buildings contained in SimCity 2000 constructed on a 6x6 tile road grid. This city is handy for previewing complete replacement tile sets for SimCity 2000. You can also load the city into SimCopter or Streets of SimCity to view all of the buildings in these games as well.

"Underwater Tunnel" (UWTUNNEL.SC2) is a city that shows how to create an underwater tunnel in SimCity 2000. After loading the city into SimCity 2000, read the signs for complete instructions. Also, if you query the tunnel tiles (after running the simulator for a bit and allowing the city develop), you will see that the tunnels ACTUALLY WORK (check out the "Traffic: cars/minute" statistic).

Weeds' City (249,370 bytes)

Weeds' City is a small "no cheat" city for SimCity 2000 with low crime, a balanced budget, and happy citizens. The city was really never completed (as you can see by it's small size), but is still fun to play and experiment with.

The city is also fun to play in SimCopter. The only problem with playing this city in SimCopter is the lack of an airport. SimCopter will randomly put an airport (your home base) at the lower right edge of the map when there isn't a suitable airport contained in the city. Makes it a little harder for refueling and repairs when starting a new game and the only helicopter that you own is the slow Schweitzer 300 <G>.

Weeds' County (203,784 bytes)

Weeds' County is one of my first successful "no cheat" cities for SimCity 2000. The city began as a town with a massive railroad system (I like watching the trains go around), and developed into the big dirty city that it is today <G>. Nevertheless, the city has a balanced budget and adequate police and fire protection. The city is also fun to play in SimCopter.

Weeds' Island (578,682 bytes)

Weeds' Island is a small island city that I originally created in SimCity 2000 with no cheats (except for some very MINOR editing of the awarded military base in SCURK), and now also play in SimCopter (SimCopter was the reason for the SCURKing). The island is very successful with a stable economy, low crime rate, low pollution, and happy citizens. The city is also a lot of fun to play in SimCopter, and makes an excellent "Career" city for the game. Also included in the archive is a new "Scenario" for use with SimCity 2000.

Weeds' Islands (70,818 bytes)

Weeds' Islands is a city that consists of four small islands (connected by four bridges) that I originally created for SimCity 2000, and now also play in SimCopter. The city zones and infrastructure (as well as the airport) were placed using SCURK, although heavy editing to the power and water grid (as well as city growth) was performed within SimCity 2000 itself. The island is very successful with a stable economy, low crime rate, low pollution, and happy citizens. The city is also a lot of fun to play in SimCopter. Essentially, any successful city in SimCity 2000 (as far as low crime, high health, high fire power, water availability, and transportation are concerned) is a successful city in SimCopter. The city also makes an excellent "Career" city for the game.

Weeds' Metropolis (1,691,108 bytes)

Weeds' Metropolis (WEEDMETR.SC2) is one of the best "Chia" style cities for SimCity 2000 that you'll ever see. This city will grow to a very successful and stable city in just a few short years, all on it's own with almost no user intervention. The only work on your part is to construct the Mayor's House, the City Hall, the Statue, and the Braun Llama Dome when they are awarded to you (you may first want to enable "No Disasters" and "Auto-Budget" before unpausing SimCity 2000 and playing this city). Signs are placed in the designated areas for these awards. Also included in the archive is a new "Scenario" for use with SimCity 2000.

The file WEEDMT3K.SC2 is the current state of the city in the year 3000 (with no user intervention) and has low crime, low unemployment, a stable economy with a budget that just barely balances out each year with only $10 to spare, and happy citizens. WEEDMT3K.SC2 is also a lot of fun to play in SimCopter, and the developed city makes an excellent "Career" city for the game.

Weeds' Town (162,549 bytes)

Weeds' Town is a small mining town located in a remote mountain region that I originally created in SimCity 2000 with no cheats, and now also play in SimCopter. This small city is very successful with a stable economy, low crime rate, low pollution, and happy citizens. The only high-tech aspect of this city is the nuclear power plant (yeah I know, it's not very realistic for a small mining town <G>). Also included in the archive is a new "Scenario" for use with SimCity 2000.

The city is also a lot of fun to play in SimCopter, and makes an excellent "Career" city for the game. I love running night time fire missions with the Dauphin 2 in this city -:)

Weeds' World (561,880 bytes)

Weeds' World was my first successful "no cheat" city for SimCity 2000, and is located on the coast, probably in an area such as eastern Florida, USA. The city was established in the northeast region near the sign that reads "Old Town Weeds", and developed into the big dirty city that it is today <G>. While the city may not win any mayoral awards, it has a balanced budget and adequate police and fire protection. The city is also fun to play in SimCopter.

SimCity 2000 for Mac Pack

Weeds SimCity 2000 for Macintosh Pack (4,797,979 bytes)

The Weeds SimCity 2000 for Macintosh Pack contains a pack of all of the cities and scenarios that I have previously created for SimCity 2000 for DOS and Windows, converted for use with SimCity 2000 for Macintosh running under the "Basilisk II" Macintosh emulator.

Note that this pack includes an additional Macintosh-only bonus: Included in this pack is a scenario for SimCity 2000 for Macintosh based upon "Weeds' Island". Note that this scenario is now ALSO included with the PC version download of "Weeds' Island" above!

Click here for more information and full installation instructions for the pack.

Mac Music SoundFont

SimCity 2000 Macintosh MIDI SoundFont (153,607 bytes)

This soundfont is for use with an AWE-32, AWE-64, or a Sound Blaster Live sound card (as well as Ian Luck's freeware media player XMPlay, with XMPlay's MIDI Plugin installed), and was created from samples ripped from the Macintosh version of SimCity 2000.

The archive includes edited SimCity 2000 MIDI files for use with the soundfont. Also included is the original SimCity Classic for Windows MIDI file (edited for use with the soundfont as well).

SimCopter Stuff

Click here to read a review that I wrote a few years ago over at Amazon.com for SimCopter.

SimCopter Sound Pack Pro (1,406,738 bytes)

This archive contains replacement stereo helicopter engine sound effects for SimCopter. The new engine sounds are flawlessly looped and sound MUCH better than the mono engine sound effects that ship with the game.

SimCopter Career and City Files Backup Utility (1,716 bytes)

This utility is a small DOS batch file that will backup and restore all of your SimCopter "Career" savegames and savegame city files. The utility requires DOS PKZIP and PKUNZIP as well as Windows 98 CHOICE.COM located in your SimCopter directory, or somewhere in your path.

SimCopter: Complete FAQ, Manual, and Player's Guide (48,465 bytes)

This is a single compilation of all of the SimCopter Readmes, the SimCopter CD online HTML manual (converted to plain text format), a complete list of cheats and command line parameters, a list of all of the default career city names and filenames and their default difficulty settings, a list of all of the default keyboard commands, and general playing help for SimCopter in plain DOS text format (everyone chant with me, "DOS TEXT! DOS TEXT! DOS TEXT!" <G>).

I take absolutely no credit for any of the material in this guide, as all of the material is directly from SimCopter or other third party sources. I simply wanted a complete compilation of all of the information in one easy to read and easy to search source.

SimCopter CD Manual in Windows 98 HTML Help Format (1,869,925 bytes)

The file in this archive is a Windows 98 "HTML Help" (CHM) file that was created from the SimCopter CD online HTML manual. This is useful for those SimCopter players who detest the "Maxis Help Viewer" utility or any web browser based HTML manuals, like myself <G>.

SimCopter Time Sync (33,160 bytes)

This program is a small DOS utility that will adjust your computer's time to sync SimCopter with real-world time. Apparently there is a bug in the time zone calculations of SimCopter, and you may have noticed that the "Mission Log" is always 5 hours and 25 minutes *EARLIER* than real-world time. Also included is the crude QBasic source code (SCTSYNC.BAS).

SimCopter Wallpaper for Windows (1,847,867 bytes)

This archive contains two wallpaper images for Windows created from SimCopter.

COPTERS.BMP is a night time screenshot within SimCopter from one of the cities that I had previously created in SimCity 2000, and now play in SimCopter. Overlayed over this image are pictures of all of the helicopters in the game as they appear in SimCopter's "Catalog" in the hanger.

SIMCOPTR.BMP is simply the title screen of the demo version of SimCopter with some heavy editing to remove the "Demo" text, and enlarged to a respectable size.

Both of the images are 800x600 16 million color BMP format images and will look super on your desktop!

SimCopter Screensaver for Windows (3,364,339 bytes)

This screensaver features the "McDonnell Douglas Explorer" helicopter from SimCopter hovering around your monitor (complete with sound effects and some excellent sounding music), and will run on any Windows PC.

Screenshots of Interest

Note: Some of the following pics are quite large, but are worth the wait -:)

SCPTCOPS.GIF (17,197 bytes)
A small bug in SimCopter where the game occasionally places dozens of cops on the police departments. I've always said, you can never have enough cops in your city during your SimCopter missions <G>!

SIMWEEDS.GIF (5,807 bytes)
The official "Sim¥Weeds¥" logo!

"Weeds Metropolis" was a "Chia" style city that I originally created for SimCity 2000. After allowing the city to develop, I now also play it in SimCopter and SimCity 3000. Here are a few interesting screenshots of the developed city in the year 3000. The screenshots show the city loaded into SimCity 2000, SimCity 3000 Unlimited, and SimCopter. It's kind of interesting to see what the same area of the city looks like in the three different game engines.

WEEDMT2K.GIF (258,577 bytes)
Weeds' Metropolis as it appears in SimCity 2000. This screenshot makes a nice wallpaper for Windows.

WEEDMT3K.JPG (908,916 bytes)
Weeds' Metropolis as it appears in SimCity 3000 Unlimited. This is a REAL NICE looking screenshot and makes a super wallpaper for Windows -:)

WEEDMTSC.GIF (110,099 bytes)
Weeds' Metropolis as it appears in SimCopter at day time.

WEEDMSCN.GIF (113,193 bytes)
Weeds' Metropolis as it appears in SimCopter at night time. This screenshot is not of the same area as the other three listed above, but the night time effects in SimCopter are real neat looking.

Rich ¥Weeds¥ Nagel's Original Music Compositions

The music that you are hearing in the background (and probably recognize if you are a SimCopter player) is my own rendition of SimCopter's Main Techno Theme sequenced in MIDI format.
