GeneRally Track Pieces Pack v3.0 ================================ What are all of these files anyway? ----------------------------------- The files in this archive is a collection of track piece images in NeoPaint "STW" stamp format, as well as standard Windows "BMP" format. The stamps and images can be used to easily create new GeneRally track layouts simply by copying and pasting using any image editing program, or using the "Stamp Pad Tool" in NeoPaint. All of the track piece images have been cropped to 48x48 pixels, and have GeneRally's 16 color "land map" palette applied to them. The original track piece images were created by "Zanthrax" and included with his (non-GeneRally) utility "Track Maker". More information about Track Maker can be found on the Internet at http://www.zanthrax.nl/index.php?id=20, http://www.microcars.nl/default.asp?action=man&man=trackmaker, and http://www.djdominoe.com/superchargd/trackmaker.htm. Installation ------------ To install the track pieces pack, first unzip TRSTMP30.ZIP to any directory on your hard drive maintaining the directory structure contained inside of the ZIP archive (i.e. when unzipping the archive using WinZip, select the "Use Folder Names" option). To upgrade an existing installation of the track pieces pack from a previous version, simply overwrite the existing files. The track piece images and stamps are organized by type in the various subdirectories contained inside of the ZIP archive (i.e. "Bumps", "Diagonal", "Extras", "Intersection", "Larger Corners", "Normal", "Open 1", "Open 2", "Pit Lane", etc...). NeoPaint Useage --------------- This track pieces pack is best suited for use with NeoSoft's "NeoPaint". All of the ".STW" stamp files contained in the "NeoPaint Stamps" directory are for use with NeoPaint. Simply move the subdirectories and files contained in this directory to your existing "NeoPaint\Stamps" directory (or where ever NeoPaint is installed on your hard drive). Note that there are two complete sets of NeoPaint stamps included in this track pieces pack. The stamps contained in the "NeoPaint Stamps\Opaque" subdirectory have no transparency, while the stamps contained in the "NeoPaint Stamps\Transparent" subdirectory have palette index 2 (light green) set for transparent. Run NeoPaint and create a new 16 color (4-bit) image with the dimensions of 512x512 (the standard size of a GeneRally "land map"). Load the included "GeneRally Neopaint.pal" palette file to set the correct palette of the land map image (i.e. "Picture/Edit Palette", and then "File/Load Palette" in NeoPaint's "Palette Editor"). Select "Options/Grid Settings" and set NeoPaint's grid to 48x48 pixels, and enable "Show Grid" and "Snap to Grid". Click on NeoPaint's "Stamp Pad Tool" icon in the toolbar, and browse around your hard drive to the various subdirectories where you moved the ".STW" stamp files contained in the archive. Then simply select your choice of the stamps in NeoPaint's "Stamp Pad" and click away! The included "TrkStamp.gif" image is a screenshot of NeoPaint and the track pieces pack in action. Also be sure to have a look at the included "New Track.gif" image, as this GeneRally land map was created in less than five minutes using this method and these stamps -:) Other Image Editing Program Useage ---------------------------------- All of the BMP format image files contained in the "BMP Images" directory are for use with any other image editing program. First create a new 16 color (4-bit) image with the dimensions of 512x512 (the standard size of a GeneRally "land map"). Load the included "GeneRally Jasc.pal" palette file to set the correct palette of the land map image (if you are using an image editing program that supports Jasc's "Paint Shop Pro" palette format). If your image editing program supports some form of grid settings, set the grid to 48x48 pixels and enable "Snap to Grid". Then simply copy and paste the various track piece images into your land map. Note that this method is not as easy as using the "STW" format stamp files with NeoPaint, but is still quite easier than drawing the GeneRally track layout by hand. Copyrights and Legalities ------------------------- The GeneRally Track Pieces Pack (TRSTMP30.ZIP) may be freely distributed in it's unmodified and unedited form, and in it's original unmodified and unedited ZIP format archive for any non-commercial use.
